The issue is that i cannot for the life of me figure out how to get rid of this checkerboard to even start trying to apply my texture i mean, i've got a separate lambert layer with the UV on it, but it's not showing up at all. I've figured out this checkerboard is from a tab in the attribute box that appears when i use the auto unwrap tool called "unwrapChekcerShader" (yes it's misspelled in Maya too aha). I've been sat here trying to figure out what's even going wrong, and i think i've figured it out, but i have no idea how to resolve the issue, so here i am hoping someone can help me out (please!)īasically, i've got a pretty standard box which will ultimately be a tileable wall segment to use in UE, however, when i unwrap it, import the UV into photoshop, and then try to apply the texture as a lambert all i can see is a checkerboard. I'm pretty much back up to scratch with the modelling side of things, but i am pulling my hair out at how unintuitive Maya seems to be when it comes to making a UV with the Auto Unwrap bonus tool and then actually using that UV to make a texture and applying it. So i've switched from 3DS to Maya after years of use for several reasons which i won't go into, but it's not been as smooth a transition as it likely should have been.
